The recent massacre at Virgina Tech brings the issue of mental health to the forefront. After any tragedy people look to place blame and find cause. Inevitably it is asked what could have been done to prevent horrific crimes, and in retrospect warning signs are always uncovered. CNN issued an article this morning addressing just these issues.

The present case raises the issue of prevention and early warning signs. Therapy is significantly undervalued and underutilized among teens and on college campuses, where the services are often offered free of charge. The present devastation offers an opportunity to bring mental health to the forefront and to facilitate the acquisition services for those who are referred for treatment.
